Engagement or reciprocation is foolish attempt to make money on medium. It causes more harm than good and harm is irreparable and irreversible.


I joined medium partner program on 15th August after addition of my country to partner program. I wrote about forty stories. All were written from my life experience and they were free of AI use also.


I used engagement strategy to grow and earn money on medium. It caused revoke of my medium partner program. I lost my September earnings. I were so emotionally drained that it took me ten days to recover from such tragedy and to write again on medium.


During these 10 days, I read all rules of medium and tried to find strategies that can help me to grow on medium without engagement. Here are someone simple strategies to grow on medium without reciprocation.


Craft Best Title and Headlines

We humans are quick at judgement. Our most evaluations and judgements are based on visuals and we judge things in split of second. We judge a book by its cover, house by its front and person by his or her face.


The same is with readers on medium. When a reader opens medium he has multiple options to click and read articles because he or she has followed many writers besides you.


Moreover daily hundred of articles are published on medium. To stand out of crowd you have to craft best title and headlines for your articles and blogs.


If your article get clicked that’s okay. You have done great job. Its like climbing first step of growing on medium.


Most writers fail to write best title and headlines for their blog. When you don’t have best title for your articles, your growth stuck. Here are some ways to craft best title and headlines for your blog.


  1. Keep it simple and concise.
  2. Use numbers in your title because they are easy to read and remember for reader.

Keep in mind that there should be balance in your title and content of article. Sometimes being over smart may cause more harm than good and it can also offend readers and no one will visit your blog again.


Write Curious Intro of Your Article


We humans have little attention span and time. When a reader starts reading your article your initial paragraphs can make or break him or her to read your article.


If your first two paragraphs are messy trust me reader is not going to read your whole article. Because our mind equate that your whole article is dead like your initial paragraphs.


To keep readers connect till end and develop true readers and fans of your blog you have to write best and curious intro of your article. Here are some tips.

  2. Share your opinion
  3. Start with any story
  4. Lead your article with quote

Improve Format of your Article

Our mind is lazy creature. It is evolved to survive not thrive. We naturally skip complex and complicate things.


I have seen and read articles of many people. I realized that one big obstacle and hurdle in their medium growth is bad format of their article.


If you want to grow fast on medium, improve format of your article. Here are some tips to improve format of your article.

  • Keep paragraphs short and they should be connected with each other.
  • Change Your text to grab attention of reader such as use bold, italics for important things .
  • Increase white space of your article. It gives reader a room to enjoy and absorb your article

Be Consistent In Publishing

Consistency is such thing that separates dreamers from doers and talkers from walkers.

Medium algorithm is hungry beast like other algorithm. If you feed it regularly it will put you at spot light. If you publish your stories sporadically you decrease the chance of your virality and growth on medium.

If you want to grow fast on medium and earn without reciprocation publish your stories on regular basis .

Publish your stories in publications

The last but not least strategy to grow on medium without engagement is to publish stories in publications. The publications have already a large number of audience.

When you publish your stories in publications, your blog gets more eyes to read and increase the chances of developing true readership and fans of your blog.

Choose the publications according to your content and make sure that publications must have active readers also.

Earning on medium is like running marathon. You have to take slow but gradual steps toward your destination. You have to trust on the process and publish your stories daily to grow fast on medium.
